I'm Back!

Hey! First and foremost I would like to apologize for my unannounced five month blogging hiatus. These past few months I have been suffering from a lack of motivation and creativity to do anything to my blog. I also mentioned in my last post that my macbook was stolen, so that contributed a lot to my absence. But I am back with a new laptop and so much to share. I really hope all is well with you guys!!!!

Almost A Month Later...

Can't believe its been a month since I last updated. February has certainly been one stressful month. I was evicted from my apartment earlier in the month, and some of my things were stolen in the process including my macbook. I was able to get my apartment back but not my laptop =(. I also had to deal with a lot of family drama. But all is well now. I finally cut my hair, I will post pics soon. Now I am just debating whether or not I want to relax my hair again. How have you guys been? I see I have a lot of catching up to do!

Beautiful Mistake. It Is What It Is.

Love this song by Keri. It speaks on exactly how I'm feeling right now about a certain someone. It's always good when you find a song you can truly relate to.

Suicide and 30 Facts.

Day 5: A time you thought about ending your own life.

I have actually considered suicide once when I was going through the worst mental and emotional state last year. But it wasn't on a serious level because that thought quickly went out my head. I value my life way too much for that. I definitely think it's a selfish act. I can not even imagine the pain and hurt I could cause to those that love me if I ever went through with it. I wouldn't want them to deal with my death. I try to remind myself that there is someone out here that has it way worse than I do. There was a picture I posted earlier when I first started this blog. A picture of a little boy hungry, crawling and  trying to find food with a vulture sitting near waiting for his death. The picture is really heartbreaking but I look at it everytime I'm going through. It reminds me how bless I am and have no reason to complain.

Day 6: Write 30 interesting facts about yourself.

1. I'm a perfectionist.
2. I have a really bad memory.
3. I'm a Leo.
4. I can be shy sometimes.
5. I enjoy my own company.
6. My favorite colors are pink, purple, and yellow.
7. I'm a girly girl.
8. Brooklyn is my heart.
9. I have no tattoos (yet).
10. I love the smell of gasoline lol.
11. Things I'm terrified of: planes, gasoline trucks, bridges, and all animals.
12. I am a senior at Howard University.
13. My major is Afro-American studies.
14. I have 8 siblings.
15. I'm obsessed with animal print (zebra, leopard, cheetah, giraffe all of em!!)
16. The smell of coffee makes me nauseous.
17. I had my first kiss on Valentine's Day when I was 14.
18. I love big cities.
19. Christmas is my favorite holiday.
20. I was an extra in an independent movie when I was younger.
21. I love hot sauce!!
22. I can be emotional.
23. I can speak swahili.
24. I don't want to live alone.
25. I am one of the sweetest person you'll ever meet.
26. I am slow to anger but when I get there I can get a little crazy lol.
27. I spend way to much time surfing the net.
28. I am a procrastinator.
29. I love L-O-V-E.
30. I'm a thumb-sucker.

Early Morning Thoughts.

I'm the type of person to only see the good in people no matter what the person has done. I have always been that way. Seems like a good trait right? Well I'm not so sure. I am not a difficult person to deal with at all and I don't ask for much. I'm forgiving. I am not selfish. So why does some people constantly take what I give them and just walk all over me? I never get any appreciation which is fine but the blatant disrespect hurts. Every time i try to set my foot down and be more assertive (which I have no problem doing) they look at me like I'm the one out of line. I find it very hard to trust people now and even found myself to be a little bitter because of it. It also just seems to me that people set expectations for me that only suits them. Woke up with this on my mind. I think its time to cut a lot people off. smh.

The State of My Hair

Last week, I went in for a relaxer after stretching for 4 months. I went home afterwards to find the hair in the middle and back of my head had completely broken off. All gone. I broke down and cried. I cried all day. I didn't attend any of my classes. I almost didn't go to work. I dropped my flat iron and it broke. So for the past few days I've been walking around looking like WHO-SHOT-JOHNNY-AND-FORGOT-TO-KILL-HIM. I am debating whether or not to cut the rest of my hair off or rock a wig/weave until my hair grows back. I think its time for a new look anyway. I really want to cut my hair in a short style but I am so scared. I always had long hair and I really don't know how a short cut would look on me. I really like the cut Meagan Good been sporting lately. If I do cut my hair I think this is the style I'll get:

Any of you guys experienced hair breakage? What did you do to nourish your hair back to health?

Drugs, Alcohol and Religion.

Day 3: Drugs and Alcohol
Drug free is the way to be. I don't see anything wrong with smoking a lil mary jane every now and then, I try not to smoke often though because I would hate to have black lips lol.  I never had the desire to experiment with any other drugs. I've seen first hand what drugs like heroin and cocaine can do to a person and it's really scary. As far as alcohol goes, I don't drink that much. Every now and then I'll go to happy hour. I try to drink in moderation.

Day 4: Religion
My favorite verse: John 3:16.

Decoded by Jay-Z

Last week I picked up Jay-Z's book Decoded from my school's bookstore. I started reading it yesterday, and I must say this book is pretty amazing so far. I have always been a fan of Jay-Z and reading his book puts a lot of things into perspective on how he came to create the lyrics to his songs and what he was feeling at the time. I always felt he was much deeper than what's on the radio, and this book proves it. Not only does this book describes the reasons behind Jay-Z's lyrics but it also gives a first hand account of his life experiences. I thought his story was very entertaining. I can truly say this book was worth picking up!

Day 1: My current relationship status, Day 2: Ten years from now...

Day 1: My current relationship status

I am currently single and loving it. Well, sometimes. Um, I don't think becoming single would have ever been one of my goals because I would love to have that special someone in my life. I just got out of a relationship not too long ago (communication issues--so he claim) and since then I have really gotten to know myself better. If ya'll only knew the stuff I went through with my ex. However I don't regret or begrudge anything I experienced being with him for 3+ years in anyway. I still have love for him, but I refuse to settle for anything less than what I deserve.

Day 2: Where I see myself in 10 years...

In ten years, I'll be 32. I hope to be happy, settled in my career, in good financial standing, and happily married with 2 or 3 kids.

75 Lessons that MUST be learned in relationships

I came across this list on and thought it was quite interesting.

1.        If a man wants you, nothing can keep him away. If he doesn't want you, nothing can make him stay.
2.         Stop making excuses for a man and his behavior.
3.        If you have ANY doubt in your mind about a man or woman’s character, leave them alone.
4.         Allow your intuition (or spirit) to save you from heartache.
5.         Stop trying to change yourself for a relationship that's not meant to be.
6.         Don't force an attraction.
7.         Slower is better.
8.        Never live your life for a man or woman before you find what makes you truly happy.
9.         If a relationship ends because the man was not treating you as you deserve then heck no you can't "be friends." A friend wouldn't mistreat a friend.
10.      Have faith in God regarding your relationship, but don't let faith make you stupid. God does things decent and in order
11.     Don't settle.
12.      If you feel like he is stringing you along, then he probably is.
13.      If he keeps changing his mind about the relationship--take that as a BIG sign that he is unstable. Do you really want to be with a man like that? The one who deserves you will have NO DOUBTS.
14.     Don't stay because you think "it will get better." You'll be mad at yourself a year later for staying when things are not better.
15.     Honorable men take care of their business and aren't involved in a whole lot of mess.
16.     The only person you can control in a relationship is you.
17.     There's only one reason a man dumps you or doesn't call; he doesn't want you or didn't want to call. Don't make him lie because you need to hear an excuse.
18.     Avoid men who've got a bunch of children by a bunch of different women. He didn't marry them when he got them pregnant, why would he treat you any differently? And unprotected s*x.....WHOA.
19.      You really do have to kiss a few frogs before finding the prince.
20.     Always put yourself and your happiness first. Unless you have kids - then THEY come first. They are smarter than you think - and they are watching your example.
21.     Always have your own set of friends separate from his/hers.
22.      Maintain boundaries in how a guy treats you. If something bothers you, speak up.
23.     Like from the show Sex and the City, if he doesn't call, he just isn't that interested.
24.     Be honest and upfront.
25.     Know when to cut the cord; even if he doesn't. Don't be strung along.
26.     Don't fall for the "I'm confused" role. Remove yourself from the situation to let him figure things out (but don't wait for him, move on). HIS confusion should not be YOUR issue.
27.     If you want to have a clue as to how he will treat you, watch how he treats the WOMEN in his family (not just mom).
28.     There's more than physical abuse, there's emotional and mental abuse. If he causes any of them...flee.
29.     You cannot change a man's behaviors. Change comes from within.
30.     Don't let him place rules on you that he is not willing to follow himself -- double-standard.
31.     Don't EVER make him feel he is more important than you are...even if he has more education or in a better job.
32.     Do not make him into a quasi-god. He is a man, nothing more nothing less.
33.     Demand respect and if he can't give it, he can't have you!
34.     Don't compete with other woman, but be aware that men are attracted to what they see.
35.     If you think he is cheating, he probably is.
36.      Actions speak louder than words. LISTEN. 37
37.     Never let a man define who you are.
38.     Never rely on a man for compliments, look to yourself for that.
39.     Never borrow someone else's man. It's not that you are so great that you could steal him away....the truth is that he's so cheap, anyone can have him. Check his ethics at the door....and your own.
40.     If he cheated WITH you, he'll cheat ON you. Don't believe you're "different."
41.      Just because he says he loves you, doesn't mean that he won't hurt you and it doesn't mean that you are meant to be with him.
42.     To use painful hard-won wisdom -- 'get it right' the next time.
43.     Know that you deserve to be the number one person in the life of the #1 person in your life.
44.     Love is a verb ... An ACTION verb.
45.     Learn to give up your lifelong task of trying to make someone unavailable-available, someone ungiving-giving, and someone unloving-loving.
46.     A man will only treat you the way you ALLOW him to treat you.
47.     All men are NOT dogs.
48.     You should not be the one doing all the bending...compromise is a two way street.
49.     If you don't love can't love anyone else.
50.     You cannot mend someone else's broken heart.
51.     You need time to heal between relationships...there is nothing cute about with your issues before pursuing a new relationship.
52.     You should never look for someone to COMPLETE you...a relationship consists of two WHOLE individuals...look for someone complimentary...not supplementary.
53.     Dating is fun...even if he doesn't turn out to be Mr. Right.
54.     NEVER give more in a relationship than you are getting out of it.
55.     Never become your man's "therapist".
56.     When actions and words conflict, believe the actions. Respond to the actions.
57.     A real healthy relationship requires two people. One person can end it - but it takes two to make it work.
58.     Don't fall for the "I'm not the loving type"...when a man loves you there is nothing in this world (within reason) that he wouldn't do for you.
59.     Make him miss you sometimes...when a man always know where you are, and you're always readily available to him he takes it for granted.
60.     Give him his space...let him go out with his boys, don't pressure = him to spend time with you, You cant force a man to hang out with you.
61.     If you wouldn't allow your daughter to be with him you shouldn't.
62.     Never let a man know everything. He will use it against you later.
63.     Never move into his mother's house.
64.      Provide financially for yourself and don't depend on anyone.
65.     Never co-sign for a man.
66.     Never believe you have the perfect guy and he is so innocent.
67.     Never spoil your man; let him spoil you.
68.     Never let a man mess up your credit.
69.     When it's time to let go; let go.
70.     Good men should be treated like good men.
71.     Don't play games.
72.     You can't make a whore into a housewife - or husband.
73.     Don't fully commit to a man who doesn't give you everything that you need. Keep him in your radar but get to know others.
74.     Compatibility in terms of educational attainment, values, beliefs, personal and career goals, and socioeconomic status, are important.
75.     Never date a guy who wears colored contacts.

Okay after much procrastination and alienation of my blog I finally decided to update. My blog deserves to be treated better than this lol. I had a lot going on these past few weeks. It was winter break, I went home, worked, and dealt with a break-up. I really didn't feel motivated to write and almost gave up on my blog.  I hope you guys new years are going well so far. Mine started out a little rough but I nipped that in the bud real quick by removing the people and things that brought me nothing but negative energy. I'm all about positivity and happiness this year. That's all I want. I have so many things I want to accomplish this year but my main focus right now is school. I am getting ready to go into my last year of college and I am trying to finish out this last year strong. I'm just praying that I'll have enough financial aid to go back to school this spring. (Please pray for me). My schedule this semester is awesome. I have tuesday/thursday classes with one class on M/W/F. But once registration opens up, I'll be getting rid of that M/W/F class. That would be great because I'll be able to do an internship or work a second job during those days I am not in class. Well that's all for now. Just wanted to let you guys know that I'm doing well.
